The Presidency Public School run and managed by the Gems Educational Trust, Sira was founded way back in 2002 by Shri Chidanand M, A philanthropist and a well-known educationist, Shri Chidanand, is presently a member of Legislative Council ,  Government of Karnataka. He hails from Hosahalli, Hulikunte Hobli in Sira Taluk, Tumkur District. He had his primary education at his native village under the tutelage of his own teacher & mentor Gopikunte Eranna Mestru. The unique opportunity of getting quality education   from his own guru & mentor and the proper upbringing Shri Chidanand had thus received, laid a strong foundation for his successful life journey.    

Even as a very young man, Shri Chidanand had realized that education is the only solution for all the socio-economic problems facing the society. Therefore, he had set a goal for himself to establish a good school in Sira – the place of his birth and upbringing for the benefit of the poor rural children, which, by any standard, should stand on par with the top schools in Bangalore or elsewhere, with affordable fees and other expenses.

With this noble aim in mind, The Gopikunte Erannu Mestru Smaraka Educational Trust (GEMS EDUCATIONAL TRUST, SIRA) was established        in October, 2001 by him and a few well-meaning friends and well-wishers. Closely, thereafter, The Presidency Public School, Sira- a co-educational Day cum Residential School was established in the year 2002 under the State Board syllabus, thus fulfilling the long-cherished goal of Shri Chidanand.   .  This achievement was like a dream come true and since then, Shri Chidanand never looked back. Year after year, the Presidency, Sira grew from strength to strength in terms of academic achievements, infrastructure development and all other resources including faculty development, on an ongoing basis.

In the year 2012, the Decennial celebrations of the Presidency Group of Educational institutions which marked the completion of 10 years’ fruitful service to the students & the society was conducted.  This was a mammoth cultural & literary event meticulously planned & organized for 5 days at a stretch where eminent educationists, higher ranking Govt. officials of IAS/ IPS cadre, well known artists, singers, writers, social activists, sports personalities, agriculturists and also the proud alumnus of the Institution had all congregated for the 5-day celebrations.  In addition to felicitating the Chief guests/Guest of Honor of each day celebration, literary deliberations, music & dance and other cultural programs were organized. 

During the year 2016, considering the continuous demand of the parent community for providing CBSE pattern of education to their wards, the school secured affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi under switch over category (Affiliation No.830710).

Over the years, The Presidency School- CBSE, Sira became one of the most sought-after schools offering holistic quality education to more than 1300 students. The school is located along the Amarapura Road at a lively green campus spread over 25 acres with attractive administrative and academic blocks, spacious green and well laid lawns, gardens, medicinal plants, coconut palms, play fields, rain water conservation plant besides a semi-Olympic size swimming pool and the dormitories, dining hall, kitchen, pantry, the KG Park and the rows of cottage classrooms.

The sprawling campus is not only well planned but also meticulously maintained. It is a harmonious blend of the building structure with a picture-perfect surrounding.

Now Sira is synonymous with ‘Presidency’.  The vision and the dynamism of the Founder Chairman Shri Chidanand, the excellent track record of Presidency in academics, coupled with the commitment and hard work on the part of teaching staff and the positive and goal-oriented work culture built over a period of time helped ‘Presidency’, Sira to become one of the best educational institutions in Karnataka.
